Books

Time for a non-Elsa post, I know, hard to believe.
(I do have two funny pictures I'll add in at the end to entice you to leave a comment!)

For those of you who read this blog,
(if there are any of you out there besides the grandparents)
I would like to hear your book recommendations.

I am in need of a good read.
What good books have you been reading?

Diaper free Elsa

E has a little diaper rash, so we let her "air out" a bit before we diapered her back up. She was being so funny and we caught just a glimpse of it on video.

Uncle Joe

E loved every minute of Joe's three day stay.

He was the perfect uncle to....

climb on

  take a rest on

help her get  Laddie

and make silly faces with.

What's better than a cookie?

A cookie within a cookie!
I made these cookies for Alex's Sunday school class that he teaches every week. They were a hit, especially with the missionaries, so we made some more to take to them. Thought I'd share the recipe. (E's weekly post is below to check out)

  • 1 stick softened butter
  • 6 Tablespoons sugar
  • 6 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 ¼ cup flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 11 broken pieces Oreo Cookies ( we liked having big chunks of the cookies)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cream butter, and sugars until well combined. Add egg and vanilla until mixed well.
2. Place flour, baking soda and salt into a large bowl, stir to combine. Slowly add dry ingredients to wet ingredients then stir in oreos and chocolate chips until just combined.
3. With a medium cookie scoop, scoop onto baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes or until cooked, but still soft. Let cool on baking sheet for 3 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.

**We tripled the recipe to try and use most of the oreos in the package **

Week 41

This girl knows how to make a mess. Her newest thing is to take things out of their containers, whether it be laddie's toys, Grams' magazines, or her own cloths/books/toys.

This keeps her busy while we finish eating dinner

Saturday Fun

She loves an empty box and especailly using her feet to hold it so she can "pat pat" it....

Next activity-a dip in her new pool....

snack time....

While E was in her pool, Grams and I really notcied how much hair E has now and the curl it's getting. We did a little comparison...

and I thought she had a lot of hair back then (look how much she has thinned out too)!

week 39- 9 months old!

E went to her 9 month checkup and was a happy camper to not have any shots. All she got was a finger prick for a hemoglobin test and she didn't even flinch. Her iron is great and she is right in the middle for most her stats.

Weight - 18 lbs 15 oz. (53%)
Height - 27.5 inches  (55%)
Head cir. - 45.5 cm (88%)

* She is still not that into eating. The doctor was a little concerned with the fact that she gags and throws up so much. Especially since solids will soon be the primary source of E's nutrition. She thinks it might be reflux- the pedi in SLC thought this when E was just weeks old so maybe there is something there. We will try some reflux drops and see if it helps her and go back to see Dr. V in a month.

* She might not be eating food, but she still puts everything in her mouth-grass, crumbs, toys- you name it and it's been in her mouth so we have to keep a close eye on her!

trying to eat her band-aid at the doctors today-she got it in her mouth so fast, I had to quickly fish it out before she swallowed it!

* What I love about E being 9 months--- she is sleeping through the night-YAY! But getting her to sleep is still pretty bad. We are stuck in the same cycle of sleeping for an hour, waking up, crying a lot, barfing, getting cleaned up and THEN sleeping all night. Until we get this reflux stuff a try, the doc says to not let her get so worked up and try going in every 5 minutes to sooth her. This will be interesting!

I found her half undressed after her nap the other day

* E is now all over the place. She's not quite up on her knees crawling but she has the army crawl down pat and gets everywhere plenty quick. She can now get from laying down to sitting and visa versa really fast.  She loves to be under the furniture and her newest place to explore is Grams' room-she goes straight for the scale!

* E is still our little gymnast/yoga baby- using her feet to hold toys and even her bottle! She is blowing raspberries like crazy, still obsessed with Laddie, though he has learned to get away as soon as he sees her coming, and is now pulling herself up to a standing position-especially in her crib. The other day she was standing in her crib looking out the window at Grams working in the garden.

* Her newest trick is waving. She has started waving to other when they say bye-bye and she never fails to impress them- it is pretty dang cute!

* I think she will be a water baby. She loves moving all over the bathtub kicking and splashing. She doesn't seem to mind the water in her face and eyes.  A baby pool is on our shopping list this week.

wow, this is a really long post and enough for now....videos of Miss E to come soon!
